I have a younger brother. He got married quite earlyhe was only 18. I never really understood why he was in such a rush. I suppose he simply wanted to prove he was grown up and capable of living on his own. Since we were children, I was used to taking care of him; my childhood ended the day he was brought home from the hospital. I was just ten then. Being the older sibling, I always looked after him. Eventually, he grew up, married, and moved out. His wife was also 18, and she had a very strong personality.
From the first meeting, none of us took to her. She was tactless, ill-mannered, and frankly, not very pleasant to look at. What could my brother possibly find in her? My brother and his wife lived in a flat not far from her parents. Her father was rather quiethe struck me as a bit odd. He hardly said a word, sometimes just shook his head. As for her mother, she liked to rule the roost. She barked orders at everyone and everyone obeyed, as there was no alternative. She always found fault with my brother, scolded him, and reported all his missteps. His wife was forever dissatisfied with him too.
They treated my brother very badly. Naturally, I wasn’t happy with the situation. I tried to talk sense into him, but he kept insisting he was fine, that his wife loved him, everything was good and they were content with their life. Over time, I noticed my brother had changed; he started to resemble his father-in-law. He gave up voicing his opinions and, more often than not, just nodded in silence. But one day, his patience snappedhe packed his things and simply walked out. I had never seen him like that before. He deeply regretted marrying so young. Every person has their limits, and when those boundaries are crossed, they leave.
