My Dad Never Cared About Me or Grandma, But After She Passed Away He Came With Demands That Left Me Gobsmacked

Honestly, Ive spent my entire adult life living with my grandma. She raised me from when I was four because my mum lost custody and my dad never really wanted to be involved. He just dropped me off at Grans cottage in the countryside and pretty much convinced her to take me in. After that, he hardly ever visited. I still remember, back when I was in year five, he once turned up at Grans with some strange man. Gran sent me out for a walk so I wouldnt overhear their conversation. When I got back, Dad and the stranger had disappeared and I found Gran in tears. I asked what had happened and she just told me Id never see my father again.

Thing is, I didnt really care. My gran was both mum and dad to me, and she was all I needed. When I was in secondary school, I discovered my passion for sewing and got pretty good at it. The best tailor in our village actually encouraged me to go to uni and study it professionally, so thats what I did. By some odd twist of fate, my dad lived in that same city, but I never bumped into him and never went looking either. Thats also where I met my husband, Tom. Gran loved Tom from the moment they met and immediately gave us her blessing. After the wedding, I always made time to visit her, and during my last visit, I got to share the news that I was pregnant. She was over the moon, but sadly, she never got to meet her great-grandchild.

When Gran passed away, the solicitors opened up her will, and of course, she left everything to me. About six months after the funeral, my dad suddenly showed up out of nowhere, and I honestly didnt even recognise him at first. He didnt say how hed been or explain why hed disappeared; he just started demanding a share of the inheritance. Well, I absolutely lost it. I told him he had no righthe couldnt even be bothered to show up for Grans funeral. He didnt bother arguing, but he did decide to take me to court. The judge, thank goodness, completely sided with me, so he didnt get a penny.

With Grans inheritance, Tom and I managed to open our own little tailoring shop. I focused on keeping the quality top-notch, and word spread around town pretty quicklyour brand really took off. I honestly cant thank Gran enough for everything she did for meraising me, believing in me, and still supporting me, even after shed gone.
