The Door She Opened

Claire came home from her business trip one day early, hoping to surprise her husband.

Instead, she found Daniel in his private office with a young blonde woman in a black dress. The table was set for two, wine glasses still full, and broken dessert plates lay scattered on the floor.

Daniel turned pale the moment he saw her.

“Claire… wait,” he said.

But Claire’s eyes had already landed on the envelope on the table. Her name was written across it.

Before Daniel could stop her, she opened it.

Inside were bank papers, old photos, and a contract signed by her late father. The blonde woman stepped forward and said quietly, “I’m not his lover. I’m your father’s lawyer.”

Claire froze.

Her father had left the company, the penthouse, and the family fortune to her. Daniel had only been allowed to manage everything until she was ready. But he had hidden the truth for two years, hoping she would never ask questions.

Claire looked at him, calm but broken.

“You didn’t betray me with another woman,” she whispered. “You betrayed me with my own life.”

That night, she walked out with the envelope in her hand.

By morning, Daniel was removed from the company, the accounts were frozen, and Claire took back everything that had always been hers.
