The Scar at the Gala

Elena had worked as a waitress at expensive events for years, but that night felt different.

The ballroom was full of chandeliers, champagne, and people who looked through her as if she were invisible. She was serving drinks quietly when Vanessa Cole, the host’s glamorous fiancée, suddenly grabbed her by the blouse.

“What is that mark?” Vanessa shouted.

The room froze.

Elena tried to cover the crescent-shaped scar on her chest, but everyone had already seen it.

Behind Vanessa, billionaire Daniel Whitmore went pale. Ten years earlier, his little sister had disappeared after a car crash. Her body was never found. The only thing Daniel remembered clearly was the crescent-shaped birthmark near her heart.

He stepped closer, trembling.

“Elena… where did you get that?”

“I’ve had it all my life,” she whispered. “At least… the life I remember.”

Vanessa tried to laugh it off, but her face betrayed her. Daniel ordered his lawyer to check old medical records and demanded a DNA test.

Two days later, the truth came back.

Elena was Daniel’s missing sister.

She had survived the crash with memory loss and grown up in foster care under another name. Vanessa had discovered the truth months earlier and tried to send her away, afraid Elena would inherit half the family fortune.

Daniel ended the engagement immediately.

When Elena finally entered the family home, Daniel handed her an old photo of two children smiling in the garden.

Her eyes filled with tears.

“I remember,” she whispered. “You’re my brother.”
