At 6:17 a.m., billionaire Adrian Cole stumbled into his penthouse with blood on his hand, a bruise across his face, and one warning:
“Lock the door.”
Maya, the private nurse hired only three weeks earlier, froze.
Adrian was known across the city as a ruthless businessman who trusted no one. Yet now he could barely stand.
“What happened to you?” she whispered.
“Nothing you want to be involved in.”
Maya ignored him and began cleaning his wounds. But as she touched his arm, Adrian suddenly looked toward the hallway.
Three men in black suits had entered the penthouse.
Maya’s heart stopped.
One of them spoke calmly.
“Mr. Cole, you should have signed the papers.”
Adrian slowly stood and moved in front of Maya.
“Leave her out of this.”
The men laughed.
That was when Maya noticed something strange on the table: a photograph of her late father.
She picked it up with trembling fingers.
“Why do you have this?”
Adrian’s face changed.
Because the secret he had protected for twelve years was finally about to destroy them both.
He looked at Maya and said quietly:
“Your father didn’t die in an accident.”
